These sites are well-respected by Google and other search engines because they are moderated by human beings (which means that all articles must adhere to the quality standards of the site), they have been around for a long time, and they churn out hundreds of pages of new content every single day consistently.

You can utilize the power of these large article directory websites to get more traffic to your Hubs on Hubpages.  And if you’re trying to make money on Hubpages or any other site for that matter, then you know that traffic is the name of the game.  The more traffic you get to your Hubpages, the more money you will make.

Traffic is the name of the game, but targeted traffic is golden.  Targeted traffic means that you have a hub about a topic like “free ebooks for the Amazon kindle” and you get a visitor who owns a kindle and is currently looking for ebooks to read without paying for them.  That’s targeted traffic and you can see why it’s a beautiful situation when things work out like that.

The visitor has a problem (or question) and you have a solution (or answer).  It’s a perfect match.

Okay folks, it’s been a while since I’ve posted my last Hubpages Income Report, but here it is.  For a while, I wasn’t writing any new content for Hubpages.  I have noticed that the more content you write there and the more involved you are on the site (leaving comments, rating other hubs, going to the forums), the more traffic you will tend to get to your Hubs.

Another thing I have noticed is that over time Hubpages articles tend to generate more traffic.  There’s always the argument between fresh and evergreen content, but I have to say that a good content strategy involves both.  I guess what I’m getting at is with Hubpages, think LONG TERM.

Not that you can’t make money right away on hubpages with relevant and timely articles, but over time you have the potential to generate some very good revenue from what you publish on the site.

My Hubpages income was the best it has ever been last month (you should notice a steady growth over the months). I earned $174 from display advertising and another $43 in eBay affiliate commissions (which is paid out as pay per click).  Amazon income was pretty negligible–I’m still trying to figure out how to effectively use Amazon links.  I don’t use Kontera for the majority of my hubs–only on a few low-paying ones.

The total earnings were $217. This is pretty much based on Hubs I have published over the past couple of years, as I didn’t do too much work on the site last month.

With Hubpages, you can create a pretty decent residual income stream.  Be consistent by writing about similar topics (although it will never hurt you to branch off into a totally random and non-competitive ancillary interest of yours), build links between your Hubs, and think about where you want to place your display advertising and ebay links.
