Make Money on Hubpages by Writing Multiple Hubs on the Same Topic

One of the ways that people make good money with Hubpages is by writing several hubs on the same topic.  If two hubs are about a related subject, you can link them to each other.  Not only does this give your readers access to more information, it also creates a new permanent link to your other work.

Links between hubs will help you gain more impressions and could help you make more money.  Say you write a hub about brewing beer at home.  You could write a definitive hub about this hobby and include some information answering the basic questions on how this kind of thing is done, how to get started, and possibly even where to purchase home beer brewing kits.

Your next hub could be about a specific home made beer or your own experience brewing.  Maybe you write a product review.  You could then link from this hub to your previous hub, thus strengthening your Hubpages search footprint.  What I mean by this is you are creating a wider net for people searching for this kind of topic on Google and Yahoo.

You can do this a few times, or you could do this one hundred times.  As long as you are creating useful, search engine friendly content (which I will be going into deeper later this week), you will be on your way to getting some good traffic and even earning some money on Hubpages.

Three Reasons Writing Multiple Hubs on the Same Topic Is a Good Idea:

1) It strengthens your previous Hubs by creating back links.  Back links help your content become more findable in search queries.

2) It increases your pageviews.  More pageviews means more ad impressions and more opportunity to make money on Hubpages.

3) It provides access to more information to your reader.  This is a big one because if your content is authoritative, meaning you provide very useful information, your readers may pass on the link, save it on their desktop for future reference, bookmark it, or even link to it from their blog.  All these are cool things and will help you gain more exposure.

Hubpages Adsense Earnings for August

August 31st, 2009

Since I’ve written several posts about how to make money with Hubpages, I figured I would give you a look at my Hubpages earnings just to let you know that it really is possible to make money writing good content at the site.

Read my post on how to make money with Hubpages.

First of all, Hubpages is a site where you can sign up for an account, write content, and earn money from Adsense ads that are displayed when you publish your work.  You get to keep 60 percent of the revenue while Hubpages, quite fairly, gets to keep 40 percent.  The exposure and traffic you will get just by publishing on the site is well-worth the site’s cut of profits.

My Hubpages Earnings for August were $76.30.

I have about 30 Hubs that get most of my traffic and, admittedly, some of them are based on low paying keywords.  I know these earnings could have been higher if I had a stronger focus on higher cost per click terms. But some of the lower paying niche I write about are fun and I like them, so I’m not going to stop. There are some simple ways to earn more money with your Hubs, which I write about in a few of my articles here.

These earnings required no outside promotion or any link-building other than linking from similar Hubs, which is something you want to do when you can.  See the above link for more details about back-links.

What I want you to take out of this earnings statement is that you can earn money on Hubpages too.  The great part is I have already written these hubs and, in terms of search, they will only do better.  Older content earns more traffic over time.  These hubs are like pieces of online real estate that will earn money every single month.

So, as I add more hubs, my income will only increase.  And if I pay attention to higher earning keywords and niches, I will earn more money as well. One lesson I’ve learned is that it can be a little disheartening when you see how low some hubs pay because it’s all related to products and advertisers in your given niche. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to stop writing about these subjects because, frankly, it’s not all about money–at least, not all the time.

The second thing I want you to get out of this Hubpages income report is that your hubs will be indexed more quickly by Google and other search engines, you will gain higher pagerank faster, and will earn more traffic in a shorter amount of time than you would starting a brand new blog.

I’m not trying to discourage you from starting your own money-making blog, I just want to relate that you can harness the power and authority of a well-respected site to make money online while also promoting yourself and your own website. I will post one of these income reports every month, so stay tuned.

If you haven’t yet, subscribe to my RSS feed so you can get these posts delivered to you and don’t have to worry about bookmarking them. If you’re interested in making money on Hubpages (even though making money isn’t what it’s all about), definitely keep an eye on this site, because I’m interested in it as well and will provide tips from my own experience.

If you write internet content, Hubpages is a great place to write some articles.  Sign up here.

Quick Hubpages Tips:

Do some keyword research and write a good, descriptive title.  This will help you gain more traffic.

When you can, link from one related Hub to another related Hub.  This not only helps your reader find the information they’re looking for, it also helps you create more traffic, and thus, more opportunity to make money from Hubpages.

How Do You Get Paid by Hubpages?

July 13th, 2009

I noticed that quite a few people visited my site last week wondering how you get paid by hubpages. I wrote two pieces recently about how to make money online with hubpages, in which I wrote a little about how you can actually earn some income from the work you write at the site. Read them here if you want to learn more about how to do it. Then come back to this post for more clarification.

Make Money Online with Hubpages (part 1)

Make Money with Hubpages – Backlinks (part 2)

Sign up at Hubpages

The truth is that Hubpages does not pay you at all. What I mean to say is the owners of the site never issue a check in your name or send you a residual payment. Publishers have the opportunity to earn from the impressions of their pages–the amount of times a web surfer views their pages.

What you need to do to make money on Hubpages is sign up with Google Adsense. This is the primary way people make money from their content at Hubpages. Adsense ads appear around your content as text links or images. When clicked by a visitor to your work, you earn money 6 out of 10 times.

Now how much you earn per click with this advertising network depends on a few factors: the quality of your content, the kind of traffic you receive, and what you write about. The better your content, the more people will link to it and the more people will see it. More importantly, advertisers will want their ads to pop up on your pages if you create high quality content. If you create spammy, low quality work, you may have ads blocked by some merchants. Would you want your product or service associated with something that looks like crap?

Make Money on Hubpages with Search Engine Traffic

If you receive natural search engine traffic to your hubs (which is an important thing in any internet marketing venture), you should be able to earn some money from your work. Search engine traffic is known to convert well into a click or a sale because the type of visitor looking for something on a search engine is looking for a solution to a problem and may find what they are looking for in a text ad on your hub. This type of web surfer may be more “click-happy” than someone with a more focused objective.

Look at it this way: this type of visitor to your hub is literally “searching” for something. Advertisements are a legitimate way to help these people solve their problem. At the end of the day, if you are helpful and informative, you will earn some money for your efforts. Give and you shall receive.

How to Make Money with Hubpages Content: It’s About What You Write

The biggest indicator of what you may earn per click comes from what you write about. If you write a post about bathroom renovation, you will probably be able to earn more money with Hubpages than if you write a review of the movie Batman Begins. The reason is simple. Services and products associated with bathroom restoration are more expensive than products associated with movies. A business selling high end products has more money to advertise with because its products have higher margins, and thus a greater payout if a sale is a made or a prospective customer’s email is collected for an emailing list.

That being said, you should write about what you want to because life is short. Have fun. If you write about movies or your favorite park in town (random, I know), you may still be able to earn substantial money if it is really well done and pulls a lot of traffic. It is a lot easier to write about something you are genuinely interested in and passionate about rather than just looking for expensive terms to base you articles about. Furthermore, there are other ways to make money online with Hubpages.

Make Money on Hubpages through Referral Programs

Amazon and eBay are integrated into the design of hubpages and can easily be added to your hubs through your editing dock. You have to sign up individually with both of these companies in order to become an affiliate and start referring products. Once you start making referrals, you will be paid directly by Amazon and eBay.

There are two ways to use these referral links. You can hand select each individual product or type in the keywords of your hub and sort of set it on autopilot to have related products automatically pop up. It really depends what you are writing about. ?Say you write an informational hub about Rolex watches. You may want to set an ebay link at the end of your hub to display related products. Rolex watches on sale will appear. But say you are writing about a specific model from this watchmaker. ?You may want to hand select the model because it may be more specific to what you are writing about.

More Traffic Equals More Money on Hubpages

The keys to doing well with your hubs are traffic, traffic, and more traffic. I am repetitive here and only half-kidding. But it is true that the more traffic you receive to your work online, the more money you will be able to make. If you take a second to look at the online environment and put out of your head terms like “Search Engine Optimization” (or SEO) and “Search Engine Marketing”, you begin to realize that writing quality articles that inform, enlighten, or entertain is what will create traffic for you.

The cream rises to the top. Sure, there are less than incredible websites, blogs, and probably some hubs, that gain a ton of traffic, but are spammy and useless. This is the exception to the rule, however. This kind of content simply will not last and writing low quality stuff just makes it hard to encourage more people to read it. And the people who read it sure aren’t going to link to it or tell their friends about it.

Making money online is not easy–and it is honestly a lot easier to do it by writing great content that people can find and that helps people out in some way. This will not only help you get real links back to your work, but it will help through word or mouth, and over time, you will get more “love” from search engines.

Learn how to properly use keyword phrases. And keep writing even when you aren’t earning any money and even when you have no traffic.  Sign up for Hubpages.

Make Money Online Writing at Hubpages

February 4th, 2009

Are you a writer?  Are you interested in starting a blog?  But maybe you’ve held off because you don’t know how to get started.

This could easily be the case.  The truth is that starting your own website doesn’t have to be that hard.  Maybe you want to take the leap and get started writing online or creating your own online business, but you aren’t sure where you want to host your site or if you want to make if for free at one of the free content management platforms available online.

Sign up at Hubpages.com

Maybe you just want to test out some keyword or niche ideas first before dedicating yourself to a long term project.  If you are in this situation, then Hubpages might be a good place for you to start.  Hubpages is a website where you can write articles on whatever topic of your choice and make money online from Adsense.  All you have to do is have an account from Google’s advertising program and you can start writing and earning.   See my other article about how to make money with Hubpages.

People write about all kinds of things.  Some just write about things they are interested in or are specialists in, while others do it to promote their website or online business, or just to earn extra money.

The site is a good place to test out your ideas and see what you are interested in writing.  You earn 60% of the revenue that your pages, or “hubs,” earn from advertising.  Your pages earn money when visitors click on advertisements.

One of the benefits to writing at Hubpages is that you can flex your online writing muscles and see what works.  You will see what articles attract readers and which ones don’t, which keywords attract readers and which ones go unnoticed by search engines.  There is also built-in traffic since the site itself is ranked very high by search engines and other people who write for the site will be exposed to your work.
